Fooji Giveaway

Chad Powers, Hulu

Turning limited assets into something more flexible with generative AI-assisted tools.

This project started as a straightforward giveaway post for the Chad Powers series. I was given a set of static, cutout product images to work with—nothing more.

What began as a simple layout quickly turned into a deeper exploration of how generative AI could help extend and adapt limited assets.

Motion layout, final version.

Midway through the design process, Hulu requested a more dynamic direction. The project evolved into a collaboration with motion designer, David Huynh, where I provided layered assets for animation.

As we moved into motion, the asset limitations became more obvious, and stated blocking progress.

We only had two versions of the ice chest to work with:

-> One with the lid closed (not ideal for showcasing the giveaway)
-> One with the lid open, but filled with alcohol—which we couldn't feature on social

Neither option worked, and we didn't have the time or resources to request new photography.

Instead of working around the problem, I treated it as something we could rebuild.

Ice chest B with AI-generated ice cubes.

For the open ice chest, I used ChatGPT to generate a new version with the lid open. The result wasn't fully usable on its own, so I brought it into Photoshop and composited the generated lid onto the original product image. This gave us a clean, believable asset that fit the brief.

For the second image, I removed the alcohol elements and used Adobe Firefly to generate ice cubes to naturall fill the space. After refining the composition and matching lighting and texture, the final asset felt cohesive with the rest of the set.

By reconstructing the missing pieces instead of relying on what was given, we were able to move forward without delays, and deliver assets that were both usable for motion and aligned with platform guidelines.
