Hollywood Map

Babylon, Paramount+

A journey through the days of Hollywood.

Babylon follows the rise and fall of multiple characters during Hollywood's transition from silent films to talkies. The film is known for its chaotic, over-the-top energy—but as designers, our challenge was to promote it without relying on those moments directly.

The idea started with a map concept from designer Jay Huddy, which we developed into a narrative device: what if we traced the film's key moments through real, physical locations?

Rather than retelling the story through characters or scenes, we reframed it through geography—mapping where these moments would exist in present-day California. The piece became a timeline told through place, connecting the film's world to something more tangible and familiar.

I worked within the visual style established on the @babylonmovie social account, building out a color palette and tone inspired by the Great Gatsby era—rich, warm, and slightly nostalgic.

From there, I gathered and mapped key story moments, aligning the film's timeline with real-world locations to create a cohesive narrative flow. The goal was to make the piece feel both informative and engaging—grounded in reality while still reflecting the film's personality.

The final piece turns the film into something you can "travel" through—transforming an otherwise chaotic story into a clear, visual journey.

While this project wasn't the one that went on to win a Clio, it's still one of my personal favorites from my time at Paramount+. It represents a different kind of thinking—using design not just to promote, but to reinterpret the story in a more subtle and conceptual way.
